Redecorate
We place great emphasis on preparation prior to actual painting / redecorating.
A quick sand and paint is rarely sufficient and can quickly devalue the property.
Prior to actual painting / redecorating, and accordingly will thoroughly sand all surfaces to provide a clean key, or rub back to sound surface. Areas will be filled as necessary, rubbed back, (bare timber and metal primed), undercoated, and top-coated x2. All materials used are prime quality, and Dulux is mostly used for standard colours. We are happy to use products you might otherwise specify or supply, and the price difference will be contra charged.
Be aware of practical considerations such as:
Wooden Surfaces
Will be thoroughly sanded, where the wood is taken back to an unpainted state it will be filled if necessary using a wood filler. This will then be primed, if bare as necessary and undercoated followed by one or two topcoats depending on whether a uniform colour* is achieved. If required we will cut back previous painting on window panes for example and provide a straight edge.
Metal surfaces
Will be thoroughly sanded and wire brushed, where the metal is taken back to a bare state it will be treated/primed and undercoated followed by one or two topcoats depending on whether a uniform colour* is achieved.
Masonry Surfaces
Will be sanded, where the masonry is taken back to an unpainted state it will be filled as necessary using a fine toupret for larger cracks or an exterior tetrion filler for smaller cracks.
General
All materials used are prime quality, Dulux Trade is mostly used for standard colours. We are happy to use products you might otherwise specify or supply and any price difference applied.
The aim of the thorough preparation is to give the paintwork sufficient integrity to survive for as long as the paint will allow under normal conditions and provide as smooth a profile as possible on flat surfaces and crisp, sharp edges on angled sections.
The reference point for a uniform colour is a solid colour, there should be no bleeding through of previous coats or shades of colour, this applies to all painted surfaces.
